Portable Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are essential for extinguishing and controlling small fires. A partially charged or neglected extinguisher may not be reliable in a fire situation. The Ontario Fire Code requires monthly inspections of all extinguishers.

Extinguished Charge State Dial Extinguisher Inspection and Recharging

Annual inspections of portable extinguishers must be performed by a contractor. Dry chemical extinguishers, whether for private or commercial use, are disassembled, inspected internally and re-built every 6 years and hydrostatically tested every 12 years. Extinguishers containing other agents are subject to other periodic maintenance.

Monthly Inspection is a "quick check" that an extinguisher is available and will operate. It is intended to give reasonable assurance that an extinguisher is fully charged and operable. This is done by seeing that the unit is in its designated place, has not been actuated or tampered with, and that there is no obvious physical damage or other condition which would prevent operation.

Annual Maintenance is a "thorough examination" of the extinguisher by a contractor. It is intended to give maximum assurance that an extinguisher will operate effectively and safely. It includes careful examination and the performance of any necessary repairs, or, if necessary the replacement of the extinguisher. It may reveal the need for disassembly and internal inspection, or for hydrostatic testing.

Four-O-One Fire & Safety typically performs the extinguisher annual inspection as part of the "One Source Management" program. When extinguisher annual inspections are performed as part of a complete annual Life Safety Inspection, customers save both time and money. Remember: "One Source – One Call"

Sprinkler Inspections

Fire sprinkler systems are a fairly standard building-code requirement, but sprinklers are far from "set it and forget it" building technology. Because degradation of the water supply or any other impairment to a sprinkler system can have catastrophic consequences, periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of the entire system is essential for proper sprinkler function.

Sprinkler System Sprinkler System

Failure to inspect, test and maintain sprinkler systems properly may result in fines, or worse massive losses due to system failure. Four-O-One Fire & Safety through strategic alliances offers its customers periodic fire sprinkler inspection programs, as required by current national codes, to ensure the ongoing reliability of their fire protection systems.

A written report by the inspector points out changes that may need to be made to ensure compliance, including helpful suggestions that may result in reduction of the client's insurance premiums. Our professional inspectors and service personnel have up-to-date knowledge of fire codes, many insurance requirements, and the various types of fire protection systems. With our fire sprinkler inspection and service team checks, you are assured that your systems are prepared to offer safety for the building's occupants as well as property protection. Four-O-One Fire & Safety provides comprehensive inspections for:

Emergency Lighting

It is vital that the emergency lighting equipment in your building operates properly if or when the power fails. Emergency lighting is designed to provide building occupants with sufficient illumination for the required time it would typically take for all persons to be evacuated safely in an emergency. Mandatory emergency lighting operation times vary between buildings of different occupancy types. Regular testing, inspection and maintenance of emergency lighting is an Ontario Fire Code requirement and is essential to ensure correct operation when a power failure (or another emergency) occurs. Take advantage of our Emergency Light Service when our technicians are at your location to perform other periodic fire protection inspections.

We can provide service for your fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems. This combination of services is the most cost-effective path to life safety and code compliance. "One Source – One Call".
